The KCWA (Kent County Water Authority), a nonprofit public utility, provides water for about 88,780 residents living in the West Warwick area. Established in 1946, the Kent County Water Authority purchases approximately 80 percent of its water (surface) from the Providence Water Supply Board through the following reservoirs located in the central part of the state: Scituate, Regulating, Moswansicut, Ponaganset, Barden and Westconnaug reservoirs. The remainder of the supply (groundwater) is collected from the Mishnock and East Greenwich well fields.
