The City of St. Charles Water, a public community water system under the Utilities Division of the City’s Department of Public Works, supplies water to about 73,040 residents living in Saint Charles, a city in and the county seat of St. Charles County, Missouri. Founded in 1809, the City of St. Charles Water System currently has a mixed source. 40% is groundwater from the city’s water treatment plant located along Elm Point Road. It is obtained from five wells, namely: Wells # 5, # 6, # 7, # 8, and # 9. The remaining 60% is purchased surface water from the City of Saint Louis.
