The Guam Waterworks Authority - Northern Water System supplies water to about 146,050 residents living in the Hagatna area in Guam County. Established in 1952, Guam Waterworks Authority - Northern Water System collects groundwater from 121 wells that draw from underground aquifers and surface water from the Ugum River. The Authority also purchases surface water from the US Navy Water System (FENA). The FENA water supply is supplemented with spring water from Santa Rita to serve the villages of Asan, Piti, Anigua, Agat, Santa Rita, and some areas of Barrigada and Mongmong-Toto-Maite.
