The Guam Waterworks Authority - Southern Water System supplies water to about 5,801 residents in the Cities of Talofofo and Unatac, Guam County. Founded in 1997, the Guam Waterworks Authority collects water from groundwater, surface water, and spring sources. The groundwater is pumped from a deep underground aquifer utilizing 121 wells, while the surface water is purchased from the US Navy Water System (FENA) via an intake in the Ugum River. The water is supplemented with water from the Santa Rita Spring. FENA's water is fluoridated to promote oral health.
