Indian Hills General Improvement District, a municipal-owned water system under the City Water Department, provides water to about 5,800 residents living in Carson City, Douglas County, in the west of California. Founded in 1861, the Indian Hills General Improvement District System currently obtains its supply from various groundwater sources, primarily three wells: JVES South Well, JVES North Well, and Ridgeview Well 5, that drill into the aquifer underneath the area. Additionally, Indian Hills purchases from the Town of Minden, through an eighteen-inch water main, groundwater pumped from the Carson Valley aquifer.
