The North Las Vegas Utilities provides water for about 306,570 residents living in the Las Vegas area. Established in 1946, the North Las Vegas Utilities collects more than 90 percent of the water supplied to customers comes from Lake Mead, which originates as snowmelt in the Rocky Mountains that flows down the Colorado River. The remainder of the water supplied to customers comes from wells that tap a deep groundwater aquifer beneath the valley.
