The Big Bend Water District supplies water to about 9,000 residents living in the Laughlin area of Clark County. Founded in 1983, Big Bend Water District collects water from the Colorado River. The water gets treated with ozone, a multistage filtration system, and an ultraviolet disinfection system at the Big Bend Water Treatment Facility that can treat up to 15 million gallons of water daily. The distribution system has a storage capacity of 6 million gallons.
