Founded in 1809, the City of St. Charles Water System currently has a mixed source. 40% is groundwater from the city’s water treatment plant located along Elm Point Road. It is obtained from five wells, namely: Wells # 5, # 6, # 7, # 8, and # 9. The remaining 60% is purchased surface water from the City of Saint Louis.
