The Greater Augusta Utility District, a public community water system, provides water for about 15,040 residents living in the area of Augusta, the state capital of Maine, and the county seat of Kennebec County. Established in 1903, the Greater Augusta Utility District Water System currently obtains its supply from a blend of groundwater sources, primarily from Brookside, Triangle, South, Riverside North, and Riverside South wells that pump from aquifers beneath the district area.
