Brewer Water Department supplies water to about 8,858 residents living in the Brewer area of Penobscot County. Brewer Water Department collects water from Hatcase Pond since the 1950s. The water gets treated at Hayes Treatment Plant by using ozonation and chloramination treatment techniques. The Brewer Water System includes 20 miles of transmission mains, over 40 miles of distribution mains, 3 storage reservoirs with a total capacity of 3 million gallons, and over 400 fire hydrants.
