Established in 1917, the Lyndhurst Water Department obtains its entire supply from Passaic Valley Water Commission through purchase. The sources of water include Passaic River and treated water that is supplied by the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission (NJDWS), which obtains from the Wanaque Reservoir.
