The Denville Township Water Department provides water for about 15,881 residents living in the Denville area, Morris County, New Jersey. Established in 1913, the Denville Township Water Department's primary source of water is five groundwater wells, which draw from the Early Mesozoic Basin Aquifer. Additional water is purchased from the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA), which operates six wells in Alamatong, Randolph and Chester Townships, and two wells in Flanders Valley, located in Mount Olive and Roxbury Townships. The MUA wells draw from the Upper and Lower Stratified Glacier Drift and the Lower Leithsville Limestone Formations, and supply people from the south side of the town. Denville Township's water supply is part of the Hackensack-Passaic Watershed.
