The Borough of North Caldwell provides water services to about 6,000 residents in the North Caldwell area of Essex County, New Jersey. North Caldwell Water Department purchases water from the Borough of Essex Fells Water Utility, the Passaic Valley Water Commission, and the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission. The Essex Fells's water comes from Watchung Basalt, Brunswick Shale, and Stratified Glacial Drift via seventeen wells drilled 94 to 566 feet deep and is occasionally supplemented by purchased water from the New Jersey American Water. The water from Passaic Valley and North Jersey originates from the Passaic River and Wanaque and Monksville Reservoirs.
