The City of Camden Water, a public community water system in partnership with the American Water’s New Jersey American Water - Camden Water System, provides water for about 46,585 residents living in the area of Camden, New Jersey. Established in 1886, the New Jersey American Water – Camden Water System is currently obtaining its supply from a ground water source, 19 wells that draw from the Lower Potomac-Raritan-Magothy (PRM) Aquifer. The City of Camden also has three emergency interconnections with New Jersey American Water Company, Gloucester City Water Department and Merchantville-Pennsauken Water Commission for supplemental or emergency use.
