The Harrison Water, a public community water system under the Town Department of Water and Sewer, provides water for about 14,425 residents living in the area of Harrison, a town in the western part of Hudson County, New Jersey. Established in 1869, the Harrison Water System currently obtains its supply via purchase from the Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC), which uses water from the Passaic and Pompton Rivers. In drought conditions or other emergencies, water from the Point View Reservoir in Wayne, NJ can be used to supplement river sources. This water is mixed with treated water from the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission’s (NJDWSC) Wanaque Reservoir treatment plant, the Jersey City Municipal Utility Authority (JCMUA) treatment plant, and Newark Water Pequannock water treatment plant.
