Hilldale Water District (HWD), a not-for-profit membership-owned business that operates as a public utilities company, provides water to about 5,602 residents living in Vicksburg, in western Mississippi. Founded in 1965, Hilldale Water District System currently obtains its supply from groundwater sources, primarily wells that drill into the aquifer underneath the area. Additionally, there are currently eight wells feeding two sophisticated treatment plants, 400,000 gallons of raised storage, and roughly 200,000 gallons of ground storage.
