The Maine Water Company - Skowhegan supplies water to about 6,125 residents of Skowhegan in Somerset County. Founded in 1880, Maine Water Company's Skowhegan Division obtains water from the Upper and Lower Ponds and the Kennebec River. The water undergoes a series of treatment processes, including filtration following flocculation and sedimentation, chlorination, fluoridation, and the addition of a corrosion inhibitor to improve its quality before use.
