The Montville Township Water Department provides water for about 22,000 residents living in the Montville area, New Jersey. Established in 1867, the Montville Township Water Department collects supply from a groundwater source, two (2) Indian Lane Wells, from the Jersey City reservoir via pumping facilities located on River Road, which pumps from the crystal-clear Towaco Valley Aquifer. During the summertime peak usage period, the aquifer water is occasionally supplemented by a limited amount of water from the Jersey City Reservoir in Parsippany.
