The Old Town Water District supplies water to about 7,498 residents of Old Town, Milford, Bradley, some parts of Orono and the University of Maine, and the Penobscot Nation on Indian Island in Penobscot County. Founded in 1925, the Old Town Water District collects water from five gravel-packed wells. The water is treated at the Filter Plant and undergoes disinfection with chlorine, pH adjustment, and fluoridation treatment processes.
