The Borough of Roseland Water supplies water to about 5,300 residents living in the Roseland area of Essex County, New Jersey. Roseland Water Department purchases water from the Borough of Essex Fells Water Utility, which provides water from sixteen wells. The wells range from 94 to 566 feet deep and draw groundwater from Watchung Basalt, Brunswick Shale, and Stratified Glacial Drift Aquifer Systems. The Borough of Essex Falls previously purchased water from the New Jersey American Water. Roseland Water subjects its water to aeration to remove trichloroethylene and volatile organic contaminants and disinfects it with calcium hypo-chloride to control microbes.
