The Township of Wayne Water, under the Town Department of Public Works - Division of Water and Sewer, provides water for about 55,000 residents living in the area of Wayne, New Jersey. Established in 1847, the Wayne Township Water is currently obtaining its supply from the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission (NJDWSC). NJDWSC takes water from surface water sources: the Wanaque and Monksville Reservoirs; and the Pompton and Ramapo Rivers when the demand arises. Wayne also maintains an emergency connection to Newark Water.
