The Yarmouth Water District supplies water to about 7,960 residents living in the Yarmouth area, including North Yarmouth and a small portion of Cumberland County, Maine. Founded in 1923, the Yarmouth Water District provides groundwater from four gravel-packed wells and maintains an interconnection with the Portland Water District for additional water purchase. Sources of water include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. The water is chlorinated to prevent bacteria growth.
