The City of Mountain View Water Services, under the City Department of Public Works, provides water for about 76,000 residents living in the area of Mountain View, California. Established in 1902, the City of Mountain View Water Services currently obtains its supply from several sources: 87% via purchase from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission’s (SFPUC) Regional Water System, which uses Tuolumne River and Hetch Hetchy Reservoir; 11% via purchase from the Santa Clara Valley Water District, now known as Valley Water, which uses water from the Sacramento - San Joaquin Delta watershed; and two per cent from City Wells, which pump from the aquifer beneath Mountain View.
