The City of Altus Water, under the City Water and Sewer Maintenance Department, provides water for about 21,477 residents living in the Altus area, Oklahoma. Established in 1901, the City of Altus collects its supply from a combination of sources. The primary water source is surface water purchased from the Mountain Park Conservancy District, which provides untreated water from Tom Steed Reservoir in southern Kiowa County. The secondary source of water is the Altus Well Field in Wilbarger County Texas which draws groundwater from the Seymour Aquifer.
