The City Of Harvard Water Department supplies water to about 9,447 residents living in the Harvard area of McHenry County. Water sources include rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. The Water Department utilizes groundwater from three active wells, which individually draw from different aquifers, including a deep bedrock aquifer of the Glenwood and St. Peter/Iron, Galesville sandstone formation, and undefined sand and gravel aquifer.
