The City of Newark Water System, under the City Department of Public Works, provides water for about 36,450 residents living in the area of Newark, Delaware. Established in 1694, the City of Newark Water System currently obtains its supply from a combination of sources: groundwater from wells that draw from the sand and gravel Potomac and Columbia Aquifers; and surface water from the White Clay Creek.
