The Keene Water Department provides water for about 25,000 residents living in the Keene area, New Hampshire. Established in 1753, the Keene Water Department collects both surface and groundwater supply. The majority of the water comes from the surface water reservoirs located in the town of Roxbury and some from four gravel-packed wells located in Keene on Court and West streets. The well water is pumped from the Court Street and West Street aquifers.
