The Hampstead Area Water Company, Inc. is a privately owned water provider that supplies water to about 6,953 residents in the Cities of Hampstead, Atkinson, Chester, Danville, East Kingston, Fremont, Kingston, Newton, Nottingham, Plaistow, Salem, Sandown, and Strafford, Rockingham County. Founded in 1977, Hampstead Area Water Company operates and manages 22 water systems and provides services to 3,700 customers. Water sources include 32 Bedrock Wells, the Southern NH Regional Water system, and the Town of Salem. The groundwater from the wells undergoes treatment processes, including filtration, disinfection with chlorine, and fluoridation to protect oral health.
