The City of Portsmouth Water, under the City Department of Public Works, provides water for about 33,000 residents living in the area of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Established in 1630, the City of Portsmouth Water currently obtains its supply through the Portsmouth Regional Water System, which uses a combination of surface water and groundwater sources. The surface water supply is the Bellamy Reservoir, which is located in Madbury and Dover; and groundwater from wells in Tradeport.
