The Milford Water Utilities Department supplies water to about 9,500 residents of Hillsborough County in the Milford area, New Hampshire. The Water Department primarily draws water from Curtis wells, which are three gravel-packed wells in southwestern Amherst, and maintains an inter-municipal connection with the Pennichuck Water distribution system for additional water supply. The water is treated with sodium hydroxide to stabilize the pH, calcium hypochlorite to remove bacterial contamination, and zinc orthophosphate for corrosion control.
