The City of Tumwater Water, under the City Department of Public Works - Utilities & Water Resources Division, provides water for about 52,105 residents living in the area of Tumwater, Washington. Established in 1869, the City of Tumwater Utility Department is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of ground water sources: 11 wells in three different well fields - the Palermo, Bush and Port well fields, which pump water from aquifers beneath Thurston. Tumwater system also maintains two interconnections with the City of Olympia and Lakeland Manor, and a back-up source at the Tumwater Valley Municipal Golf Course, as supplemental sources in the event of an emergency.
