The City of Fife Water, under the City Department of Public Works, provides water for about 31,350 residents living in the Fife area, Washington. Established in 1875, the City of Fife Water currently obtains its supply via purchase from the City of Tacoma Public Utilities, which uses a surface water source, the Green River. Tacoma also supplements its supply with well water from 20 wells in the Tacoma aquifer and six wells on the North Fork of the Green River when the demand arises.
