The Cedar River Water & Sewer District (CRWSD) provides water for about 25,323 residents living in the Maple Valley area, Washington. Established in 1960, the Cedar River Water & Sewer District obtains its supply mostly from purchased surface water via Seattle Public Utilities (SPU), which is Cedar River drawn downstream from the Lake Young’s Reservoir and treatment facility. The District supplements Cedar River through a well in the Maple Valley area supplying to the District’s East area mostly during summer. Additionally, an inter-tie with neighboring utilities including Covington Water District (groundwater wells) and/or Tacoma water (Green River, surface water) was used on an intermittent basis supplying to the Southeast area of the District.
