The City of Blaine Water supplies water to about 6,319 residents in the Blaine area of Whatcom County, Washington. It sells wholesale water to the Birch Bay Water and Sewer District and the Bell Bay Jackson Water Association. Water sources include rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, reservoirs, springs, and wells. Blaine Water Department collects water from nine deep-production wells in a forested watershed within the City's wellfield. The water is disinfected with chlorine to prevent microbial growth, and it is considered moderately hard with a range of 50-95 mg/L hardness, which may reach 120 mg/L during some seasons. The City distributes water through approximately 86 miles of water main.
