Birch Bay Water & Sewer District (BBWSD), a regional water supply service district under local government, provides water to about 10,235 residents living in Birch Bay, a protected bay on the east shore of the Salish Sea, between Semiahmoo Bay and Lummi Bay in Whatcom County, Washington. Founded in 1968, Birch Bay Water & Sewer District System currently purchases its supply from the City of Blaine, obtained from groundwater sources, and several wells that drill into the aquifer underneath the city's well field.
