The city of Sitka Utilities is a public community water system under the Department of Public Works that provides water to about 9,448 residents living in Sitka, a borough near Juneau, Alaska. Founded in 1913, the City of Sitka Utilities System currently obtains its surface water supply primarily from Blue Lake. Additionally, an emergency source on standby is from Indian River, which is no longer approved to be potable, hence construction on a secondary source from Sawmill Creek is now ongoing.
