The Doyon Utilities - Fort Wainwright, a joint venture between Doyon, Ltd and Fairbanks Sewer & Water awarded utility privatization contracts for the United States Army to provide water for about 15,868 residents living in Fort Wainwright, located adjacent to Fairbanks in the interior of Alaska. Established in 1953, the Doyon Utilities - Fort Wainwright System currently obtains its supply from 19 raw water supply wells, with two primary source wells for the water plant and two backup supply wells, wells that drill into the Tanana Basin Alluvium, approximately 300 feet deep.
