The City of Covington Water District (CWD) provides water for about 49,993 residents living in the area of Kent, Washington. Established in 1890, the City of Covington Water District is currently obtaining its supply from a surface water source, the Green River Watershed, via purchase from the City of Tacoma Water. Covington Water District supplements the Green River supply with its own ground water sources (wells), also referred to as the Regional Water Supply System (RWSS).
