The Town of Gilbert Water, under the Town’s Public Works Department, provides water for about 247,600 residents living in the Gilbert area. Established in 1920, the Town of Gilbert Water collects water from Gilbert’s water comes from a combination of several surface water and groundwater sources. Surface water is supplied to Gilbert from the Salt River Project (SRP) and the Central Arizona Project (CAP), which originates from the Salt River and Verde River, including Colorado River water from Lake Havasu. Groundwater is pumped from any number of the 18 wells located throughout Gilbert.
