The US Army - Fort Irwin Water, owned by the United States Army controlled by the US Army Forces command water system, provides water for about 16,000 residents living in Fort Irwin, home of the National Training Center located in San Bernardino County, Southern California. Established in 1976, the Us Army - Fort Irwin Water System used to have 17 wells but currently, only eight wells supply groundwater pump from the following Basin namely: Bicycle Lake Basin, located approximately 2 miles northeast of the cantonment area adjacent to Barstow Road; Langford Lake Basin, located approximately 2 miles southeast of the cantonment area adjacent to Langford Lake Road; and Irwin Basin, located underneath the cantonment area, while the remaining nine wells are either inactive or destroyed
