The Hayward Water provides water for about 151,600 residents living in the Hayward area. Established in 1957, The City of Hayward Water purchases all of its water from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), which draws its surface water supply from The Hetch Hetchy watershed and the Alameda Watershed, and supplemented by a small amount of groundwater from Sunol Filter Galleries near the town of Sunol.
