Established in 1993, the Los Angeles County Waterworks Districts (LACWD) 40, Antelope Valley, Regions 38 (Lake Los Angeles) Water System is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of sources: 64 percent is purchased treated surface water from the Antelope Valley-East Kern Water Agency (AVEK). AVEK gets its water from the Sacramento River/San Joaquin Delta via the State Water Project. The remaining 36 percent is groundwater extracted from District wells that pump from the Antelope Valley Groundwater Basin.
