The Monte Vista Water District (MVWD), a county water utility operator, provides water for about 56,998 residents living in the area of Montclair, California. Established in 1927, the Monte Vista Water District is currently obtaining its supply from a combination of sources: 54% groundwater from 13 active production wells (four of which are Aquifer Storage and Recovery Wells) that pump water from the Chino Groundwater Basin; and 46% imported surface water from northern California transported through the California Aqueduct to southern California through the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California Aqueduct.
