The City of Pleasanton Water, under the City Department of Operations Services, provides water for about 79,201 residents living in the area of Pleasanton, California. Established in 1894, the City of Pleasanton Water currently obtains its supply from a combination of sources: approximately 80% is purchased from Zone 7 Water Agency and is comprised of treated surface water imported from the State Water Project (SWP). SWP Water originates from the Feather River watershed into the Sacramento River/San Joaquin Delta. Zone 1 Water Agency blends Delta Water with Lake Del Valle, the local water storage reservoir. The remaining 20% is groundwater pumped from wells owned and operated by the City of Pleasanton.
