The City of South Gate Water Division, under the City Department of Public Works, provides water for about 88,654 residents living in the area of South Gate City, California. Established in 1923, the City of South Gate Water Division currently obtains its supply from a groundwater source, nine local, deep groundwater wells that draw water from the Central Basin beneath Los Angeles.
