The Sunnyvale Water provides water for about 147,055 residents living in the Sunnyvale area. Established in 1850, the Sunnyvale Water collects water from three different sources of drinking water supply: (1) Hetch Hetchy surface water and treated water from the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC); (2) treated surface water from the Santa Clara Valley Water District (SCVWD); and (3) local groundwater from city-owned, operated and maintained six deep wells.
