The North Tahoe Public Utility District provides water services to about 10,000 people in the Cities of Kings Beach, Tahoe Vista, Carnelian Bay, Cedar Flat, and Agate Bay, Placer County, California. Founded in 1967, North Tahoe Public Utility District operates three water systems - Dollar Cove, Carnelian Bay, and the Tahoe Main system, as well as 3,985 connections, three booster stations, and eight storage tanks with a capacity of over 4.6 million gallons. It also has an intertie with Tahoe City PUD. The Tahoe Main system receives water from surface water and groundwater sources. The surface water comes from Lake Tahoe through an intake at the end of National Avenue in Tahoe Vista, while the groundwater is supplied from a well in the North Tahoe Regional Park at the top of Donner Road. The water is treated to improve its quality before distribution.
