The City of Salina Water, under the City Municipal Utilities Department, provides water for about 47,994 residents living in the area of Salina, Kansas. Established in 1858, the City of Salina Water Department is currently obtaining its supply from a combination of sources: 17 groundwater wells located within the city that pumps water from the aquifers beneath Saline; and surface water from the Smoky Hill River.
