The Leavenworth Waterworks, an independent department, separate from the City of Leavenworth government, provides water for about 36,210 residents living in the area of Leavenworth, Kansas. Established in 1881, the Leavenworth Waterworks currently obtains its supply from a surface water source, Missouri River and the Missouri River Alluvial Aquifer.
