1. The Canton Town Water Department, a public community water system under the Town Department of Public Works - Water & Sewer Division, provides water for about 21,443 residents living in the area of Canton, Massachusetts. Established in 1797, the Canton Water Department System is currently obtaining its supply from a blend of two sources: 55% from local ground water wells and 45% from the Massachusetts Water Resource Authority (MWRA), a public water and sewer services wholesaler, which draws water from surface water sources: Quabbin and Wachusett Reservoirs, and Ware River water when the demand arises.
